- To enable pupils to be familiar with a body of knowledge, principles, skills, techniques and vocabulary related to Drama.
- To create an atmosphere where pupils wish to learn and to value each other. In doing so, to encourage empathy, so that each pupil approaches issues of Race, Religion, Gender and Ability with tolerance and insight.
- To employ teaching methods and resources that allow all pupils to have equal access to Drama and to experience success and enjoyment in their work.
Extra-curricular opportunities
We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to develop their skills and knowledge of drama outside of the classroom.
In KS3 we offer several drama clubs, which are run by the sixth form students and by members of the department. These occur on a weekly basis.
In KS4, GSCE drama students have a visiting theatre company, who perform to them as part of their course. They are also taken to the West End to see a well-known show. KS4 drama students have the opportunity to showcase their work to a public audience towards the end of year 11.
In KS5 Drama and Theatre Studies students often visit theatres across London in order to support their course. KS5 students perform their work to a public audience which is a requirement of their course.
