The Great Fire of London Project

HFCS wins second place

Holy Family won second place in the Great Fire of London project organised by The Glass Sellers Company.

The exhibition and award ceremony took place last Thursday in the Church of St Stephen Walbrook,  Bank, with the art work sharing the space with Henry Moore and Sir Christopher Wren! Holy Family was one of the ten schools chosen to participate, thanks to Mr Shannon.

 Five year 8 and five year 9 students  participated in an all day workshop with glass artists Jenny Ayrton.  They used glass, copper wire, copper mesh, etching cream and an engraver to create their designs. Ms Mennear also ran a History session on the topic ensuring the students were fully ready for the challenge.  

The work is now on display in Hatfield House in a space above the café Hatfield house is directly opposite the train station. the work will be on display from the 3rd of September to until the 29th. Eventually the work will be given to the school.
