Teaching & Learning: The Curriculum
We use the word ‘Curriculum’ to describe all the educational experiences which our school offers its students. It obviously includes
all the core National Curriculum subjects i.e. English, Maths and Science, and for us, R.E. It also includes other aspects of college life
such as work experience, educational visits, large scale projects, Days of Recollection and opportunities to develop leadership and take
responsibility in the College. Thus, the way we care for our students is seen as a central part of our curriculum. The broadly based
curriculum seeks to maximise the potential of every pupil. The college has high expectations of all pupils, whatever their ability.

Our curriculum is continually developing in accordance with the Mission Statement of the College and the requirements of the National Curriculum.

In Year 10 students start on courses leading to public examinations. Every student follows GCSE courses in the National Curriculum subjects, including Religious Education.

In addition, there are further option choices. Currently students take 10 subjects at GCSE level in Year 11, although there is provision for early-entry in cases where students show a particular ‘gift’ or ‘talent’.
