Welcome
I am pleased to welcome you to the Holy Family Technology College.
The purpose of this brochure is to provide a brief introduction to the School and an insight into how we can provide a high quality education for your child, in partnership with home and church.
The Holy Family Technology College is a voluntary aided Roman Catholic, mixed, comprehensive school for boys and girls between 11 and 19 years. It is based on two sites situated very close to each other in Shernhall Street, Walthamstow and is maintained by the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Students in their first two years at the college (Years 7 - 8) and post–16 students (the Sixth Form) are based on the Walthamstow House site. Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 are based on the Wiseman House site.

The College became a specialist Technology College in September 2000 and this has enabled us to develop our Technology, ICT, Mathematics and Science Curriculum, and to extend resources and provision in these important areas. Our Specialist school status has had a beneficial effect on all other curriculum areas.

In April 2005 we opened our new Performing Arts Building on Shernhall Street with two Drama Studios, Specialist Music & Music Technology provision, a Media Studies Suite, Library and Specialist Education Support areas. The College is also part of the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ initiative and there will be major rebuilding and development on the Walthamstow House site in the near future.

The College is privileged to have a well-qualified, talented and hardworking staff who enjoy teaching in a Catholic Comprehensive Technology College which sets itself high expectations in all aspects of its role. The College has made significant progress in recent years with improved results both at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and in the Sixth Form. This progress was recognised by the OFSTED Inspectors in February 2005 when they refer to Holy Family as a school where “the achievement of all students is good.”

Naturally, our prime purpose is to serve the needs of the Roman Catholic community by educating baptised Roman Catholic children in the way their parents would wish them to be. The Governors, however, are willing to admit other children where there is evidence of a strong desire for a Catholic education. Thank you for your interest in the College. We look forward to meeting you at our Open Evening.
