For some disciplines and careers a Young Apprenticeship can be a very good opportunity. We run an apprenticeship day for interested students, where employers come in to work with them informing them of opportunities.
We have developed links with many firms including PWC, Deloitte's, KPMG, and Barclays who offer apprenticeships in accountancy, auditing, etc. Some of these apprenticeships run alongside degree programmes.
A selling point of apprenticeships is that the student has the all-important work experience alongside gaining qualifications, and will be paid during the apprenticeship. Students studying BTECs often go on to apprenticeships.
We are continually developing our careers programme, we have a range of 'job talks' from both industry experts and ex-students all practitioners in their fields. They inform students about their jobs and the various routes to get there.
All students can apply for Work Experience/Internships in year 12, the value of work experience is immense, informing students of what to expect in jobs and teaching them many skills necessary for work. All students on Health and Social Care courses have work experience as part of their course.
