Welcome to the Library page

The Library has a room on each site, L21 on Walthamstow and U34 on Wiseman Site.

The librarians:

Mr R. Rumney, in L21 is present Tuesday to Friday and opens the library to all pupils at Lunchtime, while in U34,

Mr P. Watts is in school Monday to Friday.

U34 is open for pupils at Morning Break, Lunchtime, and after period 5.

Both libraries have a cross section of information books and fiction, (to support the school reading policy) but in general books on the Walthamstow site are aimed at younger readers.

Chess and similar games are encouraged here, while the older pupils on Wiseman site are expected to work  towards their GCSE and A levels.  Fiction in this room is generally aimed at the young adult and work by classical authors and modern literary prizewinners form part of the collection. The Careers Section in U34 has information about further education courses and the process of finding a job. This section is kept as up-to-date as possible.

Mr Watts has run a Reading Club on this site for three years, looking at how stories are structured and aspects of the life of the authors studied.

Library books are loaned for two weeks at a time and are to be returned promptly. The school will charge if a book is not returned after the borrower has been reminded.

Both rooms have laptops and printers available for schoolwork, but there is a charge for printing.

Both libraries are available for sixth form study and the librarians will give support and advice to any pupil in any year, asking for help. Both libraries are used for some timetabled classes.
