BT Sports Trip

Last week some of our Yr12 Media students attended the Inspiring Young People day at BT Sport’s Production Hub in the Olympic Park. The day was designed to introduce young people to the world of sports broadcasting. The students heard from Jamie Hindhaugh, the Chief Operating Officer at BT Sport and Liz Williams, Director of Tech Literacy, who spoke to the students about the way in which technology has change the world of sport and how young people are at the forefront of this exciting time in broadcasting.

The students also heard from a Professor at Loughborough University as well as an apprentice and graduate currently working for BT Sport, who discussed their journey through education and entering the world of broadcasting. The talk was very inspiring, showing our students all the opportunities in the local area in the world of digital tech.

Martin Bayfield, ex-England rugby player, now presenter and commentator for BT Sport also spoke to the students and was please to take a picture with us to show off his astonishing height of 6”10!

Our students asked lots of questions and were able to secure some further visits and work experience. Chloe Hinckson-Mars said the day was “…really inspiring, I found out a lot and it’s helped me to decide whether I would like to go to uni or do an apprenticeship, I definitely want to get into the world of media!”
