Professional Interview Day

On Tuesday 3rd November Year 11 students undertook a Professional Interview Day. The aim of the day was to provide Year 11 students with skills to present themselves professionally when applying for employment. Students had prepared for the interview by choosing a job to apply for, filling out application forms and compiling CVs. There was a variety of fictitious jobs on offer to suit everyone’s field of interest and the interviews were conducted realistically with the interviewees being professionals from the chosen industry.

All students have now got usernames and passwords for their fronter accounts. On here you will find information about the subjects you do, useful revision websites, have access to lesson notes, hand in work and tests online and participate in forums. Please start using this and let me know of any improvements that we can make to the MLE.

A level and AS level results
Our A level results were very pleasing this summer with an increase in the pass rate of 5% from 92%to a  record 97%. We also saw an increase in the proportion of higher grades to 61%.  15  subjects out of 21 had 100% pass rates at A level.
GCSE results
These achievements were mirrored by our sensational GCSE results.
Our headline figure for 5A*-C including Maths and English increased from 49% in 2008 to a massive 68% in 2009.
The figure for 5A*-C without Maths and English also increased to a record 76%, up 15% on last year.
In addition we saw an increase in the proportion of A* and A grades from 11% in 2008 to 16.5% in 2009.
Friends of the College

The Friends of Holy Family, our Parent Teacher Association, held both their Annual General Meeting and their first meeting proper of the new academic year this week. It was good to see several new faces there and if there are any other parents who would like to be involved please come to the next meeting.

Please join us at our Indoor Boot Sale on Saturday 28th November. More details to follow.

Welcome

The Holy Family Technology College is a very popular mixed secondary school with just under 1100 pupils aged 11-19. We are a specialist Technology College with excellent resources for teaching across the curriculum. All pupils are offered every opportunity to expand their knowledge through after school and homework clubs, school visits, etc.

Please take some time to read through our exam results page. A recent article from the Evening Standard showed our pupils' progress from primary school through to GCSE and A level results to be amongst the best in London.

The College has very close partnerships with parents through the Friends of Holy Family, helping to reinforce the Catholic ethos and the partnership between home, school and parish.

The achievements of our students and staff have been praised in a recent Ofsted report. The whole report can be read by downloading it from this link, while the following extract from that report summarises the main points:

Extract from Ofsted report May 2008

"Holy Family is a good school in which many parents have great confidence. The good teaching and support enable students to make good progress and do well in their examinations and tests. They reach above average standards at Key Stage 4, which rose in 2007, representing substantial improvement for boys and students with Caribbean or African heritage. All groups of students make good progress. Students' personal development and well-being are good. Their enjoyment of school is reflected in the outstanding attendance in the main school. Students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good ".

We are fortunate to have a thriving sixth form centre and we accept applications to our sixth form from our own Yr 11 students and also from students from other schools across the borough who would like to experience their sixth form education in a school based sixth form with a religious ethos.

We hope you find our website both informative and interesting.
