Catholic Social Teaching in Action

Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is the lens through which we view the world - and act upon it. It is taught across the curriculum, shaping how subjects explore issues of justice, dignity, and the common good.

CST underpins everything we do: it informs our policies, decisions, actions, and relationships. Every house charity links to CST themes, and students lead fundraising and awareness projects.

Our community earned the CAFOD LiveSimply Award through student-led sustainability efforts - tree planting, uniform recycling, and environmental stewardship. Programmes such as First Give, Faith in Action, and Justice & Peace develop empathy and courage, tackling issues from homelessness to climate justice.

In 2025, our Jubilee Year will feature art installations, legacy mosaics, and a whole-school theme of Pilgrims of Hope, helping every student recognise their place in God’s wider story.

Charity Work & Community Engagement

Service and outreach are central to who we are. Over the past year, students and staff have supported CAFOD, SVP, Christian Kitchen, and Action for Children.

The SVP team organised the Senior Citizens’ Christmas Party, led a Mass for the Anointing of the Sick, and visited care homes. During Lent, our Big CAFOD Walk saw Years 7 and 8 walk 5K to raise funds, while Sixth Form students hosted a “soup and roll” lunch. Over 300 Easter eggs were delivered to St Joseph’s Hospice.

Looking ahead, students will attend the SVP National Pilgrimage, join parish-school events, and participate in a Rome pilgrimage (2026).
