Catholic LifeAdvent at HFCS
The first candle was lit on our Advent wreath this morning, the candle of Hope. Students in years 7-9 have received an Advent booklet with tasks and activities to complete during Advent. Each day has a meaningful action that brings the spirit of the season to life, and offers a small way to live out Catholic Social Teaching.
As we do every Advent, students are collecting tinned food and toiletries to make up hampers for those in need in our borough. We will present them to the Parish SVP group at our Carol Concert next week, so that they can be distributed in time for Christmas.
Our CAFOD Youth Leaders are running Christmas Craft sessions, raising money for "Cheerful Children's Stockings" from CAFOD's World Gift catalogue. Many children facing the injustices of poverty may have very little on Christmas Day. This amazing gift can provide winter essentials like hats and gloves alongside presents like books and toys for children living in conflict.
