Our CEIAG (Careers) Team
At Holy Family Catholic School, we believe that every adult member of staff should contribute to the whole school approach to careers, with the ambition of delivering a strong CEIAG programme. This approach runs from involving our support staff with their wealth of experiences, through the pastoral system and within the curriculum areas.
In addition, we have tasked a designated careers team with the co-ordinating and the monitoring of the delivery of the Schools Careers Programme.
- Mr J. Fidegnon (Assistant Headteacher / Careers Leader)
- Mrs C. Pike (Administrative Officer / Careers Administrator)
- Ms V. Osei (Personal Development co-ordinator)
- Mrs Y. Omolabi (Careers Advisor)
- Ms I. Herrick (Careers Ambassador for Humanities)
- Mr I. Mensah (Careers Ambassador for STEM subjects)
- Mr J. Heskey (Extra Curricular Coordinator)
Careers – Our Mission, our vision – our Ethos
Grounded in our Catholic faith and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, we believe every student is created in God’s image and entrusted with unique gifts for the good of others.
Our careers programme supports them in recognising these strengths, accepting that there is dignity in work, discerning their vocation, and choosing pathways where they can live out the Gospel through integrity, hope, and service.
In encouraging them to use their talents for the common good, we help them grow into young people who work for justice, uphold human dignity, and contribute to a more compassionate and equitable world.
Guided by the Gospel and inspired by St Oscar Romero’s call to “aspire to be more and not to have more,” we encourage our students to see their future careers as a way of living out Christ’s love in the world.
Our Catholic ethos invites them to recognise the God‑given gifts within themselves and to pursue pathways that reflect service, compassion, and integrity rather than status or material gain.
Our programme helps young people discern meaningful and purposeful futures that align with their values, talents, and deepest hopes.
By raising aspirations and nurturing confidence, we prepare them to become agents of hope, justice, and transformation — using who they are, not what they have, to enrich their communities and the wider world.
At Holy Family Catholic School, we have a high aspiration for our students and believe that every student is enabled to “be more” in every aspect of their life during their time in our care, and that our children can stand shoulder to shoulder with students from the best schools in the country, no matter their backgrounds
Our careers programme is therefore developed with this belief in mind, whilst enabling all students to leave Holy Family with a clear plan and the confidence, knowledge and skills to succeed in a complex and ever-changing labour market.
We believe that a solid careers programme is every adult’s job at Holy Family. That is why all staff have the collective responsibility to play a part in the process. We are all clear that a well-planned programme can show the relevance of what students are learning which will ultimately improve attainment and engagement. This has been demonstrated by several academic research works.
To “educate our young people towards excellence in all dimensions of their lives, recognising the uniqueness of each and the equality of all” as stated in our Mission statement, we are committed to ensuring we provide excellent preparation for future careers, meet the needs of each individual student and enhance the personal development of all our children.
It can be confusing navigating the world of careers with so many key terms, here is a hand glossary to help you!
Extra focus is placed on Years 7 at their transition to secondary & 9 when choosing their options. All students are offered a one-to-one appointment with our external career advisor.

Years 10 & 12 Work Experience
Work Experience for year 10 & 12 students will take place in July each year. Year 10 & 12 students are encouraged to gain experience for their CV’s and personal statements by participating in our compulsory work experience scheme with the assistance of BEP.
In addition the school uses the weekly newsletter to advertise opportunities such as apprenticeships, summer school and placements at universities or to convey useful information.
There are several supports in place for the Sixth Form students to ensure that they have the correct information whilst researching which courses or universities to choose. There are links with local employers and various speakers from law, medicine, business and arts etc are invited to speak to the students.
‘If you do not know your goal, you do not know where to aim’
Careers’ education at Holy Family is continually developing because we know the world of work is continually developing too. There are so many careers out there and it is one of our missions to make your son/daughter aware of these options. Whether the young person wants to be an electrician, fire fighter, web designer or even an airline pilot, it is our task to research the best way for your son/daughter to access these professions.
Holy Family has also hosted many inspiring speakers through our commitment to the Speakers for School programme and Dame Tessa Jowels and Lord Billimoria, to name but a few, have been extremely impressed with our student body.
Our external providers are vital to our delivery of careers’ education but we also recognise that we need the support of one essential group: You; parents, carers, sisters, brothers and extended families. Therefore if you would like to share your experience of the world of work, or offer any suggestions, internships or work experience placements, please contact me:
